My Ender 6 assembly process

If you have just ordered an Ender 6, but have not yet received and assembled it, I strongly recommend you read this article. Otherwise, maybe you will have a lot more trouble.

When you opened the Ender 6 box, you will find the blue acrylic shell on the top. They are all protected very well by the protective film. I believe that there must be a lot of people here who like to tear the protective film off. I also enjoy tearing them off and seeing brand-new products.

The first layer

Underneath the acrylic covering, there is an assembled hotbed, also with the protective film. In my opinion, Creality products have quality issues sometimes, but the packaging always is well done. Taking the hotbed out and remove the foam, you will see the second layer in the carton.

The second layer

There is an extruder motor, filament sensors, aluminum bars, and Z-axis components, including lead screw and Z-motor. Let us go to see what is there in the third layer.

The third layer

It is the biggest difference between Ender 6 Ender5, which call CoreXY structure. It is already assembled, you just need to install him on the shelf. And there are some blue plastic protection corner covers. Please note that in this layer there is a roll of filament hidden under a piece of foam!There is only one main enclosure of the machine at the fourth layer.

The fourth layer

In addition, there is a toolbox and I do not remember from the first layer to take out. There is a shovel, SD card, card reader user manual, and some screwdrivers, etc.

After understanding what is in the box, we can start the assembly work. You can follow the user manual to complete the installation. But I still want to tell the whole process of my installation of Ender 6.
First, you need to install the four support posts in the four corners of the case, in order to better fix the entire frame of the machine at this time you need to use the longest screws. Then it is to install the entire factory-assembled Corexy structure on the four support columns. Now you can get a very stable structure of the cube.

Next we need to install the hot bed and Z-axis section. First loosen the screws on the back of the hot bed before mounting on the Z-axis, this tip is very important, please don’t forget otherwise it is hard to mount the hot bed on the z-axis, then install them together in the main chassis.

The next step is also very important, I first installed the extruder and the break sensor, and then finished the wiring before starting to install the acrylic covering.

Please do not do this! Be sure to install this side of the acrylic plate after the installation of the extruder and break sensor. Otherwise you need to remove the acrylic plate, because you will find that the extruder is blocking the installation of the acrylic plate.

So now what you need to do is to install the side acrylic plate, and then start wiring, here I will not describe in detail, please follow the user manual to complete the wiring steps. Then complete the installation of the extruder and the breakage detector. There is also a small bug in the installation of the extruder. As the acrylic plate has been installed, the screwdriver does not have enough space to rotate, making it difficult to tighten the screws of the extruder. Please see the pictures below.

Fortunately I had a screwdriver with a plastic handle so I could easily tighten this screw even in such a small space. I think this is a complete design flaw, because I have to install the acrylic plate first before installing the extruder, but after installing the acrylic plate, the extruder screws are very difficult to install again. Creativity should pay more attention to these details.

This plate is the right side of the acrylic plate, the printer’s plastic pad is too high, blocking the installation of the acrylic plate, it will crack a crack when screwing, which is a very bad thing for a new printer that you just got.
