Hi gurus, I need your support for a question that seems stupid… but I didn’t find a clear answer.

I’ve subscribed Marlin firmware service, and a couple of weeks ago I updagred the firmware a couple of times. Today I decided to upgrade it again (Ender3-V2-Stock-20210116.bin) but I’m not sure if the new firmware has been upgraded properly.

How can I be sure the new released has been uploaded and I’m not still running the old version?

Within Info section there is no reference to the versioning

Many thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide me.

Stefano

@bulgaro80 The build date can be seen when the printer boots. You’ll need to connect your PC to the printer via USB, then open up a serial console and get to the point where you can talk to the printer and issue any commands.

At this point, type in M997 – which will reboot the printer without dropping the serial connection.

The first line printed to the USB port by the printer will contain information about the printer – including the compile date of the firmware loaded.

@031113: you need to be registered to this website: https://marlin.crc.id.au/ (paying 10€ for 1 year) and you can download a new firmware every day. ?

Many thanks, I have connected Octoprint, so should be really easy to see it via Octoprint console. I’ll check it as soon as my current print finish… many thanks!!

One last thing: is it too complex to have it in the Info menu on printer screen where there is the firmware version? definitively would be much easier for everybody… ? ?

If it’s not too complex, could be a nice new features for future releases ?

@bulgaro80 The DWIN display is kinda picky – I’ve been toying with the idea – but most people don’t care what version they have and just update to the latest…

I do agree it would be helpful though – so I haven’t written the idea off…
