@tangerine I am waiting for:
– Crealty’s answer to my cable question
– Antclabs’ answer to my connector question
I don’t really need the BLTouch to get good prints so far, so I am willing to give it the time needed. DigiKey seems to sell plugs by the unit, so no need to buy 3,000 of them once I know the actual P/N. It seems that the plug needed is exactly the same as the one that fits into the BLTouch sensor board, so… getting close.
Crealty eventually sent me an invoice for a BLTouch to Ender 6 cable ($15).
I have asked for a part number for that (for those unfortunate enough to have followed Kevin’s advice above) as well as for the “right” BLTouch kit for the Ender 6.
It looks like Crealty is having a hard time tracking the different versions of their products and ensuring compatibility between all of them. Time for an online product configurator based on serial number?
The website now lists this:
This mentions Ender 6 (which is how I found it) but, as shown on the screen shot, the pull-down menu doesn’t mention Ender 6. Moreover, it specifies motherboard versions that antedate mine (4.3.1).
I’ll split this post as I want to show something else too.
FYI, it seems like the biggest confusion here is that the website you link is NOT Creality official store.
creality3dofficial.com is the official store
creality3d.shop is reseller
@nice Good to know. I purchased everything from www.creality3dofficial.com and quoted this thread, where an admin by the handle of @kevin recommended to go for the Ender 3 v2 BLTouch kit.
Stupid me, I trusted that information and ordered the kit.
Now the real/official/authentic website returns this for a search for “Ender 6 BLTouch”:
https://www.creality3dofficial.com/products/creality-bl-touch?_pos=2&_sid=fdde2c358&_ss=r
Why this page? Because it has a mention of the Ender 6 buried in a lot of information (in other words very easy to miss): “Notice: Not compatible with Ender 6”.
I don’t know whether that was added AFTER I brought up my issues, but the fact is that I certainly did not notice it when visiting the page and selecting Ender 3 v2.
And as I mentioned above, there is no page for a BLTouch Ender 6 kit, even though I was offered to purchase a cable that makes the Ender 3 v2 kit compatible with it (crossing fingers, I will let everyone know whether that is the case when it arrives).
So I maintain that:
– the Crealty3DOfficial website is not helpful on that matter.
– Crealty has a problem when a Google search for “Crealty Ender 6 BLTouch” returns ZERO hits for their official website, but the first hit is for a reseller that pretends to sell a kit, which won’t actually work (if it is indeed an Ender 3 v2 kit).
– Crealty has another problem when the second hit is an Amazon reseller who is apparently selling a kit that their seems to work just fine ( https://www.amazon.com/Creality-Ender-6-Printer-Parts-Accessories/dp/B08XHTKTM5).
All this being said to try helping Crealty (and its customers).
Update: the cable still hasn’t shipped (or at least I wasn’t informed of it, even though my CC was charged for the purchase. That’s kind of typical of Crealty in my experience). One thing they don’t clarify is that while their prices are shown in US $ (and in the case of the Ender 6, the item was shipped from the US), the purchase is considered a foreign one by my bank and therefore additional fees apply.
May this be of help to anyone trying to save pennies.
This being said, here is the email I received after asking for P/N for both cable and BLTouch for Ender 6 (my “lost in translation” subtitle to this all affair might become clearer). Note that I never mentioned any “unpleasant experience”, but never mind the hyperbola:
Dear customer,We are deeply sorry that you had such an unpleasant experience. We have submitted the requirements to the warehouse to arrange the line for you as soon as possible.
As far as we know, the bltouch cable for Ender 6 is not sold separately at present, they are all sold as a complete set, so we can’t give you the cable model. We have reported this issue to the sales team, and they will launch bltouch for Ender-6 as soon as possible based on your feedback.
@tangerine You may have figured it out by now, but for anyone stumbling on this thread, the BLTouch red flashing problem is fixed by the set screw on the top of the BLTouch, and either backing it out, which is what I had to do or tightening it down, which really would only be if you already backed it out too far. hope this helps someone.
@enderx the BLTouch v3.1 works for sure with the ender 6, you just want to change out that connector on the end. I believe the exact connector is a JST XH-5Y 1.25mm. I bought a Picoblade 1.25mm kit, thinking it was right, and they will work the same, you just need to cut the little protrusions on the side flush to match the JST one.
Also, the videos I watched on YouTube were less than helpful, and Creality may have made a change to the wiring for the breakout board, because for me the wire colors went, starting from closest to farthest from the front of the printer: BLTouch – W,Blk,Yel,Red,Blue and the breakout board – Blue,Red,Yel,Blk,Wht. Just check the voltage on the Blue/Red, and make sure you are not sending voltage on the ground.
@davidadrake Thanks for the information. I got a refund and bought a replacement which works okay but I still have the old one so I might try it out just for lulz when I have a bit of time.
It would seem weird that as that is the solution to a not uncommon problem, there might be a mention of it somewhere official.
@enderx Sorry I’ve just noticed that I’ve made a huge mistake! The connector of the one end of the wire is not connected to the mainboard like we used to do on the other ender series printer. So it is not that big for Ender6.
It’s too late to say anything as you have got a BL-touch kit for ender3v2. I don’t know if you can find an abandoned wire for BL-touch like me. If you can get another wire for BL-touch, things will become easy.
Cut off the ends where you don’t want them, and then stick them together according to the corresponding color and seal them with insulating tape.
Notice the order of the lines: white, black, yellow, red, blue. As You need to switch places to each other for red and blue wire. Because the colors are in a different order.
@kevin Indeed, but no worries. I have purchased a cable for the Ender 6 from the official store, but it is taking some time for them to either find it or ship it, so I am still waiting. The good news is that I haven’t really being needing a BLTouch to get things printed so far.
The even better news, as mentioned earlier, is that Crealty is working on a native BLTouch kit for the Ender 6.
@davidadrake I have looked into this option but eventually gave up on it, asking instead Crealty to do the work for me, as it is not an urgent matter and would probably cause me more headache than I am willing to cope with (and potentially cost me more).
@reson8That’s a really good question. This is the one I bought;
Yes it is a cheap knock-off, but yes, it works perfectly well. I don’t know it matters which version.
The cable attached has the black ends, and the longer cable has the white end for the breakout board at the back right of the printer. Those black ends are both female connectors, so I used some small stripped solid core wire to make pins. Cut the pins to the right length, make sure the wire colors match up, plug it all together and I used a big of electrical tape to keep them from coming apart. Install the BLTouch firmware for the Ender6 and things just worked. Oh, and the screws supplied didn’t work for me so I had to find my own.
I think the reason they say others won’t work with the Ender6 is simply because of the wire ends. They will all, I think, mount right into the hot end enclosure without issue.
Which one specifically did you get?

It was this one here,
Currently unavailable here in Canada, but it looks like one of many out there.
Does anyone know the size of the screws to use the ones that come with the kit do not fit the ender 6.
thanks
