I've been operating the Ender 5 + 1.1.5 Silent board for more than 1 year now (purchased in Nov 2019). I decided to go for the BLTouch kit sold here ( https://www.creality3dofficial.com/collections/bl-touch/products/creality-bl-touch?variant=31412867498057). Which firmware should I use?

Ender-5 Marlin 1.1.9 TMC2208(T84) or Ender-5 Marlin 1.1.9 TMC2208(T88).

Thank you for the help.

Gergo

And I've replaced the lead screw due to table falling.

I've installed a 1 start lead screw (nominal 1600 microstep).

@gergo7633 Hi Gergo. T84 and T88 is the type of lead screw. The lead screw is T84 if you buy the machine before 2018/07/26, the default lead screw is T88 after 2018/07/26.

Left: T84
Right: T88

If you are not sure, please share some pictures of the lead screw by side.

@kevin

Thank you for the reply. The problem is that I've replaced the leadscrew and put a 1 start leadscrew.

T84 is a 2 start, T88 is a 4 start leadscrew. Mine had the T88, but I replaced it for a 1 start.

T88, 4 start was 400 microsteps

T84, 2 start has 800 microsteps

now, that I have a 1 start leadscrew I use 1600 microsteps and a resulting z resolution of 0,01mm.

As far as I googled it, I'd need the T82 firmware (that is made for 1 start leadscrew), but there is no such firmware as Ender 5 was never manufactured with a 1 start leadscrew.

What if I simply install T88 firmware and change the microsteps from 400 to 1600. Isn't that enough?

@gergo7633 Hi, Gergo. Sorry, I am not sure. Maybe you need to run some tests.
