hot end hitting previous layer midprint

As the title says, the first layers always come out nicely but after a while the hot end starts scraping on the previous layers and i have to stop the print

In slicer software you can set Z hop.. Then the nozzle raises a bit when it's traveling from one point to another to avoid collisions with printed parts.
