Any ideas why the attached slice would dig into the print plate?

1 - It was printing fine on the mat

2 - I stupidly thought the underlay was glass so thought I'd give it try printing on it

3 - I thought it was printing for a while and then realised the filament wasn't spooling it and then I looked closer - ARGGhhh the plate was knackered!

Any ideas why this would have happened so I can ensure I don't do it again?

@dylan-3d-be Oh, you printed on the magnetic plate. It is a little soft so the nozzle will scratch it if it is too close.
