Since I don’t see any easy links. I just got an Ender 3 Pro as my first 3D printer and after finally getting it setup and figuring out what “bed leveling” was and other such things were I started my first print from the drive that came with the printer. While that was going I was seeing if there was other firmware out there and had apparently moved one of the firmware files onto an SD card with some files I wanted to print. This had the effect of downgrading my firmware and giving me the blue screen of death until I found another file that got the printer at least showing data again. Unfortunately it was an old firmware and now I can’t get it to zero properly or print so I’m really looking for the 2.0.8.2 that came with the device but that doesn’t seem to exist on the creality downloads. Any help is appreciated.

What board do you have?  Mine was screwed up because I ended up with the one for a different main board.  I accidentally put on a 4.2.7 firmware, downloaded 4.2.2 and I’m good now.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve tried both 4.2.2 and 4.2.7 firmware but it looks like the 4.2.7 is an upgraded board for quieter operation so it should be 4.2.2. Went ahead and opened it up and confirmed 4.2.2. It came with Marlin 2.0.8.2 from Sept 9 2021 (I had a picture) but the newest I can find on the official Creality downloads page is 2.0.1. I found up to 2.0.9 on the Marlin website but nothing official or that doesn’t need configured to create the .bin file.
2.0.1 technically kinda works but it is missing some of the features and won’t auto home/zero properly.
Maybe I should just spend some money to upgrade to the fancier 4.2.7 and get an auto leveler upgrade as well?

@mm3dmaker This just ended in a blue-screen with me unfortunately.  I would love to use a custom though – but I don’t think I’m savvy enough to build my own.

Just wondering, did you buy the printer recently, and if so is your microcontroller a GD32F303RET6 (the larger chip near your LCD screen ribbon cable). I just “updated” my firmware and am having the same issue. My other ender 3’s with the 4.2.2 board use the STM32F103RET6 microprocessor and I have a feeling this could be the issue. This seems to be a newer board revision and I can’t find any information anywhere on it.

I ended up fixing this by downloading and compiling TH3D’s unified 2 firmware here: https://www.th3dstudio.com/hc/downloads/unified-2-firmware/creality/creality-boards-creality/creality-ender-3-3-pro-ender-5-5-pro-firmware-v4-2-x-board/

I contacted creality support about the issue and the fact that they do not have the correct firmware for this iteration of the 4.2.2 board however they are useless and just kept directing me to the incompatible firmware, I was trying to tell them they need to upload the factory firmware for boards with this MCU and to put up some kind of clarification on the download page so this doesn’t happen again but they were completely unreceptive.

@seltz I have posted a fix for this however it is awaiting moderation, go here to find my original comment on another persons post, the issue is the same but they had a BL touch and that’s why they updated their firmware. https://forums.creality3dofficial.com/community/ender-3-series/sd-card-stopped-working-after-i-updated-by-ender-3-for-cr-touch/

@phydeaux86 Also do not be afraid to compile this firmware, the instructions on the page are easy to follow and you will learn a lot. I learned to compile my own firmware in about 4 hours with having zero programming experience, this is easier than that.

@phydeaux86 If you are uncomfortable compiling your own firmware (although I highly recommend learning) here is a link to the firmware I compiled: https://drive.google.com/file/d/19LBQDJZbs5lMmIKL9613EjpPmn-3XJ5k/view?usp=sharing

Good luck, let me know if it resolves your issue, It is a version of TH3d’s unified2 and has some nice features that the default firmware was missing.

@seltz Check out the firmware I compiled and posted above, it worked for me.

If your Microprocessor starts with GD32 and not STM32 I believe that is the issue, I think the firmware on creality’s download page is incompatible with the GD32F303 MCU. I have told creality about this issue but they have been dismissive of it and kept redirecting me to the incompatible firmware.

@phydeaux86 Please check the cpu version on the board

Now there is a release of the firmware for both GD32F303RET6 and GD32F303RCT6, you can unbrick your printer now by flashing my compiled firmware which works.

Download links:

GD32F303RET6: https://dl.uploadgram.me/6246e44813e6fg?raw

GD32F303RCT6: https://dl.uploadgram.me/6246e44c8afb3g?raw

If you dont know where to look here is a guide: https://www.th3dstudio.com/hc/guides/upgrades-printer-information/creality-v4-boards-identifying-your-cpu-type-256k-or-512k-chips/?seq_no=2

@seltz I did the exact same thing as you and found someone posted the official firmware from Creality Support here.  I flashed it and it works. Full details here  https://github.com/MarlinFirmware/Marlin/issues/23806#issuecomment-1118133162

@smokinjoe I have been having issues related to a CRtouch as well, and I have confirmed that I have a GD32 chip. The information related to firmware has been very helpful, and I have compiled my own, as well as tried a multitude of other firmware other people have compiled, and they all work great, except with one fatal flaw that prevents me from using them properly. They all have my printer “beep” like the LCD Panel button is being pressed. I have confirmed it’s not a hardware thing, the button isn’t physically pressed or stuck. TH3D insists it’s not a firmware issue and instead is an EM Interference issue, but when I try the official firmware form Creality listed by @smoke.007, the issue stops.

The problem with the official is that it’s lacking a few features like Homing x, y, z independently (Only full auto home is available), no z offset probe wizard, and the default home settings for x and y are not right, so it crashes into the front clips holding my bed and leaves a very large space in the back of the bed.
