I just got the Ender 3 pro. Finished assembly and connected everything up. When I select auto home the bed moves back and then makes a horrible noise and then I get auto home failed please reset. I tried hunting around looking for fixes, I have checked all switches and connections. Everything seems to be correct but it keeps happening. This is my first printer so I'm not sure what I should do next. I don't own a voltmeter so I haven't done that yet. This is very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated.

@akri13 First, you need to check all the switches and connections, and also the belt and wheels.

Then, disable the stepper on the menu. try to move the bed by hand, is it smooth?

If it can move smoothly, that means the problem is the motor, mainboard, or wiring. Then, you can have a test like a video to find which part has the issue.

@akri13 I had the same issue. I believe the print plate was so low it was hitting the motor on the back and not making contact with the limiter switch. Raised my plate and it auto homed no problem, and most importantly, no horrible grinding belt noise! (I also undid the cover on the limiter switch and verified a good wire connection).
