With my initial setup (pre Sprite Extruder purchase) I had the following setup and everything was working fine:

  • Ender3 Pro
  • 4.2.2 Main Board
  • CR Touch

With the long wire connected directly from the Main Board to the CR Touch, after I press Auto Home it hits the X and Y limit switches. After moving the extruder to the X,Y position over the bed, the gantry stops and raises up 10cm. At this point the probe extends outward, waits about 1 second, and the entire gantry lowers. This is correct.

I’m trying to use the short wire connected from the Sprite Extruder to the CR Touch; using the wiring harness from the Main Board to the Sprite Extruder. After I press Auto Home it hits the X and Y limit switches. After moving the extruder to the X,Y position over the bed, it stops and the gantry raises up 10cm. At this point the probe does NOT extend outward, waits about 1 second, and the entire gantry lowers. At this point it will crash.

To test a different secerio (with the same firmware from the short-wire test), I connected the long wire connected directly from the board to the CR Touch, after I press Auto Home it hits the X and Y limit switches. After moving the extruder to the X,Y position over the bed, the gantry stops and raises up 10cm. At this point the probe extends outward, waits about 1 second, and the entire gantry lowers. This is correct.

With either wiring setup (short or long), I can manually extend/contract the probe. For some reason, when the short wire is used from the Sprite Extruder, the CR Touch does not extend when Homing.

Additionally, since I bought the Sprite Extruder through Amazon, I returned it and got a new one because I thought the extruder was defective… Same problem though 🙁

I’ve been working with the staff from @creality.com” target=”_blank” rel=”noopener”>cs@creality.com but so far they haven’t been able to figure it out.

I’ve also configured Marlin using the steps from this video but the exact same problem exists.

Here are some videos I sent them for troubleshooting purposes:

I just got a Sprite for my Ender 3 Max and I am having the exact same issue. Did you find a solution yet as Creality support leaves a little to be desired right now?

One interesting thing I found is the probe, using the short cable, works as expected if the extruder motor is unplugged. Obviously, this won’t work but curious what the correlation might be between them.
