A totally newbie with the Ender 3 Max (total newbie at 3D printing). Have everything running smooth (now) but change nozzles and when I did I removed the silicone boot around the extruder head. When I struggled to get it back in, it tore and my failed attempts pretty much shredded it. Got it on enough to work and got some new ones but before I even try to put a new one one I figured they has to be some trick to this I am totally missing.
Any help?

Some of these do tend to tear easily. But replacements are cheap and readily available. Sometimes I take wire cutters and snip a slot to allow the heater and thermistor wires to be inserted.
